About Lu Lu
Lu-Lu is one of three compositions created for the post-concert performances of World of Rhythm 2023. The piece is inspired by the electrifying energy and deep passion of North and West African percussion traditions.
In Lu-Lu, the focus is on people coming together for collective drumming, while Dja-Dja captures the musical expressions that often mark the end of a community gathering.
As the piece unfolds, it gradually grows in intensity, reflecting the dynamics of a group gathering, with each iteration building more energy and excitement. The composition also provides space for spontaneous improvisation, bridging Western compositional structure with the captivating freedom of African musical traditions.
